General Information: All the current books use the 9x8-inch format, and feature full-color for Sunday strips and other areas Pete has used color.
Books 1, 2 & 3: We have all the content of the first three Sluggy books available as one large Megatome 01. This is the new, larger book style, with full color and extra goodies.
Books 4, 5 & 6: It's here! Little Evils collects books 4, 5, and 6 into the second Megatome. Like Megatome 01, this is a large-format, 342-page, full-color print.
Books 7, 8 & 9: We still have book 9, but for books 7 and 8, we're pretty much down to the dregs, so we don't have them up for order. We may have some damaged books left; if you really want them and can't get the store to let you, please e-mail us and we can look through our last copies.
Books 10 and on: Not laid out yet! We're hoping to get a big new book 10 out soon! |
MegaTome 02 (Books 4, 5 & 6) - Little Evils (Paperback)

Yay, they're finally here! Unfortunately, signed copies are no longer available.
Paperback edition: We've got good news and bad news about the second Sluggy MegaTome. First, the good -- it's finally here! Books 4, 5, and 6 of the original Sluggy set, which means a massive 342 full-color pages (no, we didn't re-color the black-and-whites, but anywhere color showed online, it's in the book now!), in the large 9x8-inch format. MegaTome 02 includes all the strips from May 1999 through April 2001, as well as 25 bonus pages of never-before printed storylines.
Second, the also-good! The book is published through Hatherleigh Press, and so we're able to offer it for only half the hideous price of the original! :)
Third, the not-so-good: Unfortunately, since this is their first time with Sluggy, Hatherleigh is only creating a paperback edition. It's possible that with enough demand they might do a hardcover edition later, so if that's important to you, please hold off ordering if you want a matched 01/02 hardcover set! Keep in mind we don't know for sure that we can ever offer one, but we'd hate for you to buy a paperback and then be disappointed when the hardcover comes out.

Hardcover edition: Sluggy Freelance's First MegaTome is three books in one! It contains every single daily strip from August 25th, 1997 to May 30th, 1999, with full color Sundays. There are also over 50 pages of additional content, with original full bleed splash artwork, the Sluggy Pirate Board Game "Plund-Aaaar," 42 pages of bonus stories, and more (yay!).
This book continues the new, larger format of books 7/8/9, and is a whopping 336 pages.
That's nice ... but $69 bucks!?! What the heck, friendly neighborhood

Pete says: Yeah, they do sound really expensive. What we tried to do was
to make the MegaTome at least a little cheaper than if we had republished the
books individually, and you had to buy them separately. So that worked out (it's
about five bucks cheaper), but I know the sticker shock is still there. Plus, if
I had done them separately, it'd be 2009 before we actually had them all out.
Tom says: Also, if you're a Defender of the Nifty, we're giving a
$10.00 discount on the hardcover books. So that makes them $59.95 (only $10.00
more than the softcovers).
Pete says: Um, you know that's still almost fifty bucks for a
book, right, Tom?
Tom says: Yes, well, er ... look at the shiny monkey! (aren't
monkeys shiny? no?) ... well, then ... how about this: Because we really,
*really* think these are neat, and because we also want to make the release of
the megatomes extra special, Pete is signing every single hardcover we have. Not
bookplates, not Xeroxed ...good ol' Pete sweat ... er, Pete ink. Whatever.
Pete says: Okay, we should probably stop talking while we're
ahead, or not too far behind, at least. The short version is that we know
they're friggin' expensive, but we love 'em anyway, and hope you will too!

Tom says: We're always embarrassed to even say the cost, because
we know the sticker shock is painful. We're hoping to make the next batch
more cheaply. Wait, I mean, we'll make them really good, but they'll cost
less money.
Pete says: It was hard doing these for a reasonable price, but we
do think they came out great. Okay, Tom, now distract them with something
while I run away!
Tom says: Yes, well, er ... look at the shiny monkey! (aren't

everything from the original range of books -- all the stuff that was in the
Plan Nine singles, plus several weeks that we dropped from the original versions
for space issues, plus a new extra bonus story, plus a pirate board game! And
they're all big and pretty and shiny. Like a monkey!
